Discovering Diversity Profile
Discovering Diversity Profile
Our increasingly diverse society is reflected in growing workforce diversity. Leading organizations acknowledge that working successfully with others who don't share the same background, beliefs, or traditions is a top priority in today's workplace.

Employees need help in assessing their behavior toward people who are different from themselves. And they must understand the benefits of changing negative attitudes and resistance into appreciation and cooperation.
Designed to help individuals look honestly at themselves and identify attitudes and behaviors that stand in the way of teamwork, the Discovering Diversity Profile paper booklet provides a safe way to explore the complex, powerful issues surrounding diversity.
The Discovering Diversity Profile (C-298) is highly effective and easy to use. 80 questions gently guide employees through, and journey toward, self-discovery. Responses are neither right nor wrong and are intended to prompt personal reflection on each individual's cultural diversity comfort level.
Use the Discovering Diversity Profile to explore differences in the workplace:
- Recognize the reality of individual uniqueness
- Identify your opinions and feelings about workforce diversity
- Expand your appreciation of differences
- Identify potential areas of conflict, and gain insights to achieve positive resolution
Build a Bridge to Understanding with the Discovering Diversity Profile
The Discovering Diversity Profile is completely confidential and provides an effective tool to help employees explore diversity in the following key areas:
Knowledge
Employees discover what they actually know about individual differences by looking at stereotypes and at the source of their knowledge or information.
Understanding
Diversity training activities help employees decipher their level of awareness and explore their willingness to put themselves in a position to feel what others may be feeling. Awareness and empathy scales measure these abilities.
Acceptance
Employees examine their patience and regard for respecting different beliefs and behaviors. Tolerance and respect are key aspects measured in this dimension.
Behavior
Employees assess how they act out their attitudes towards others, their flexibility and openness in dealing with others, and their awareness of interaction patterns. Self-awareness and interpersonal skill measurements provide the answers.
Gain Insight, Take Action, Value Diversity
By using the Discovering Diversity Profile to learn how they respond to workforce diversity, employees are better able to:
Limit the Influence of Stereotypes
Employees learn that some of their attitudes toward differences may be impacted by false images and assumptions. Once they understand this, employees may be helped to adjust their attitudes through tailored diversity training programs.
Gather Accurate Data About Differences
Through reading, cultural events, and seeking out others who live their cultural differences every day, employees can increase their factual knowledge about diversity issues.
Transform Knowledge into Awareness and Empathy
By reflecting on the meaning of knowledge and building sensitivity to the history and traditions of others, employees can learn to move toward true empathy.
Increase Tolerance and Value Differences
Using sensitivity as a building block, employees can explore ways to go beyond tolerance and empathy to embrace differences as a genuine source of strength in an organization.
Become Aware of the Impact Behavior has on Others
Through self-understanding, employees begin to see how their behavior may impact others who are different.
How It Works
The Diversity Profile presents a process to help draw out your knowledge, feelings, and understanding of various qualities of the people you work with, and enables you to identify your opinions and feelings about workforce diversity. Respondents answer a series of 80 questions and tally the results of their own profile.
The Interpretation Section of the Discovering Diversity Profile provides a feedback grid that helps employees understand their diversity comfort level. Suggestions for increasing knowledge and understanding in this critical area are also included.
